- Terminology project for nine languages (EN, CS, HU, IT, PL, RU, SK, SL, SR)
- The client docu tools runs software for efficient construction documentation and defect management for PCs, tablets & smartphones.
Situation
- Translation of numerous texts in the past
- Dissatisfied due to a lack of consistency in the translations
- Goal: To standardise the terminology for internal and external communications

Consulting and concept
Concept presented and time frame/milestones determined together; the rough structure of the termbase also fleshed out
Terminology extraction
German terms extracted by the client. Extracted terms then sent to Cruz Communications in an Excel file.
Translation
Terms translated into English, using reference materials provided by docu tools.
Check
EN translation vetted by docu tools and experts in the target country (client’s partner company & software user)
Import
EN feedback incorporated into the Excel file and imported into our terminology management system SDL Multiterm
Translation into the remaining languages
Translation of terms in the remaining seven languages; all languages checked by the client.
Final import
Final Excel file imported into our terminology management system SDL Multiterm, and used in future translations.
Outcome & outlook
- Standardised company terminology for internal and external use
- Use of standardised company terminology in ongoing translation projects
- Termbase is constantly being expanded in collaboration with docu tools.
